Why did we (and by we, I mean I) put ourselves through all this stress to “become” something. For most of my childhood, right into high school, all I wanted was to be a forest ranger, but I convinced myself that wasn’t a real job, so I became a teacher and then a headmaster. I enjoyed many parts of my career, but in hindsight, I think 20 or 30 years as a forest ranger would have been pure bliss.

Anyway, I’m guessing you probably wouldn’t have been happy as a court reporter.
