For those of us whose lives span years that began before the Internet and now embrace it, we have an awkward vestigial sense of social propriety. We communicate with people we will never meet, more or less anonymously and with no expressed or implied commitment, and still we care. At least I do, and maybe you do, too. What I’m trying to say is, if a friend said to me what you wrote here, I would offer to listen if she wanted to say more. Anachronistic, I know, but still, there it is.
